It is important for everyone (students, parents, staff, and the OMO Association) that information security is properly managed. In addition to the laws and regulations that must be complied with, there is a comprehensive information security policy in place across the entire association.
What is information security?
By “information that is secured,” we mean (among other things) personal data, intellectual property, sensitive business information, photos, and information about all stakeholders (including students, parents, and staff). Through information security, we aim to prevent unauthorized access to information. Additionally, we also seek to minimize the consequences of a potential data breach. Information security is a combination of policies, procedures, measures, and behavior.
Information Security at OMO
The association works with the “Information Security and Privacy Standards Framework (IBP),” which is based on ISO 27001. IBP helps educational institutions ensure digital security and the protection of personal data. This standards framework offers a structured approach for identifying, managing, and minimizing risks related to data processing. The standards framework refers to maturity levels ranging from 1 to 5. As a school within the OMO association, we must meet Level 3 (out of 5) within the association by the end of 2030. In addition to the standards framework, we are also working to raise awareness of information security, which goes hand in hand with privacy.
By complying with the IBP standards framework, Sondervick College can create a digitally secure learning and working environment for students and staff. This helps prevent technical issues and minimize disruptions to classes and exams. Furthermore, it ensures that Sondervick College meets the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant laws and regulations.
