School Accident Insurance
School accident insurance covers the consequences of an accident, for which one is not insured by a prior insurance. Coming and going to and from school, via the shortest route, is co-insured. Activities outside of school, if school-related and supervised, are also covered. Damage to clothing, eyeglasses, bicycles, mopeds, etc. caused by an accident is covered to a limited extent by this insurance.
General liability insurance
General liability insurance provides coverage for the school, including students and those who work for the school (such as staff and volunteers), against claims for damages resulting from wrongful acts. However, the school is not automatically liable for everything that happens during school hours and extracurricular activities. The school has an obligation to pay damages only when there is culpable conduct and thus must have failed in its legal duty. The school is not liable for (damages due to) unlawful conduct of pupils. Pupils (or, if younger than 14, their parents) are primarily responsible for their own actions. A pupil who causes damage during school hours or during other activities organized by the school through unlawful conduct is therefore in the first place himself (or the parents) responsible for this.
responsible for it. It is therefore important that parents take out their own private liability insurance. The school is not liable for damage to personal belongings (clothing, bicycle, glasses, etc.) or for their loss or theft, even if they are stored in a locker.
Internship Insurance
Separate clauses are included in the general liability insurance for scholars who take up internships. In the case of work orientation assignments (shorter than 15 days)
liability is assumed if nothing about this has been separately regulated in the internship agreement. For internships lasting longer than 15 days and for which an internship agreement has been established, the liability of the students is co-insured for damage caused to the internship address or to third parties during the internship activities, from the moment they arrive at the internship address for the performance of those activities until the moment they leave the internship address after the completion of the activities.
If the internship agreement does not contain provisions on liability, the liability, in accordance with the Civil Code, rests with the employer (internship company/organization).
Continuous school group travel insurance
Comprehensive school group travel insurance is in place. This means that participants in school trips and trips abroad are insured against personal injury and property damage.
If parents find the coverage of this insurance insufficient, they can reinsure their children on their own initiative. For other or higher compensation, the Board of
Board does NOT accept liability.
Cancellation insurance
The Board of Trustees has NOT purchased cancellation insurance for school trips; parents should take care of that themselves.
Material damage
Damage caused by students directly or indirectly to school property will be repaired at the expense of the student or parents. The school is not liable for damage or loss of student property unless there is demonstrable negligence or wrongdoing. The student who has suffered damage must hold the perpetrator liable. In the case of theft, for example, this is the thief and not the school. The school makes great efforts to prevent damage to students' property
prevention, such as the provision of lockers and camera surveillance (no rights can be derived from this). During physical education lessons it is
For safety reasons, it is not allowed to wear watches and/or jewelry. Therefore, please do not bring these to class, but store them safely in a locker. Often these classes offer the opportunity to collect valuables in some way during class so that they can be looked after together. Keep in mind that even during physical
education classes, the owner remains responsible for their own belongings and that this is not the school, as a certain "custodial service" is provided! Found items are kept with the janitor or the front desk. There, after some time, you can ask again if a lost item has been found.
