Since this week we have a school library at school. And the best part? The first collection was put together by our students themselves. At the beginning of this school year every student chose a book during the book market at school. Students from year 2 were even allowed to pick a book at Van Piere bookstore in Eindhoven. And now all those books are in the brand new library.
Reading pleasure
"I chose the book World Spies. I've already read that book once and it was great fun. Now others can read it too," says Max from thv2c. Loue from thv2d is very happy with the new school library: "I really like that the school is getting a library, because I love reading. It takes you into another world." Vova from bk2b is also excited. He can't wait until he can start reading his chosen book "Life of a loser, no ball on.
Official Opening
On Tuesday, September 9, we officially opened the school library. The first students were presented with their chosen book. And even the press was present. Education Manager Ineke Jacobs: "Reading is a key to success in all subjects. It increases vocabulary, strengthens reading comprehension and opens up new worlds. By letting students choose for themselves, we make reading personal, fun and meaningful. In this way we build together a library full of books that students really want to read."
Volunteers Wanted
The school library runs on volunteers. We are looking for a few more people to help. Care to join us? Recruitment and scheduling of volunteers is handled by Cordaad Welfare.
