Two-year bridge class
It is important to us that you quickly feel at home at our school and that you are in the right place. That is why we have two-year bridge classes. Did you receive a mavo recommendation at elementary school? Then you will enter the mavo/havo bridge class. This gives you ample time to get used to secondary education. In this so-called roof-top class, lessons are given at both levels. Do you need some extra explanation? Then you will get it. Just ready for some extra challenge? Then the teacher will provide in-depth material. During testing we take your level into account. In the second year at the Sondervick College we look, together with you and your parents, at which study program suits you best.
Preparing for upper division
In the second year, you prepare for the superstructure. Will you go to mavo or havo? At the mavo you make a choice between a mixed learning pathway or a theoretical learning pathway. You do this through an orientation on the various practical squares.
Hands-on learning
Whether you choose the mixed or theoretical pathway: hands-on learning is becoming increasingly important. At our school we have wonderful practice squares that you can make use of.
During years 3 and 4 you will prepare for the final exam and further education: havo or mbo.
Within the mavo, there are two learning pathways:
The mixed curriculum
In this learning pathway, in addition to the general theoretical subjects, you have 6 hours a week of practical subjects. The mixed learning pathway ensures good progression to MBO level 4. Do you have good grades? Then with a diploma of the mixed learning pathway you can also move on to havo.
The theoretical pathway
Here you have only theoretical subjects, such as Dutch, English and mathematics. With a diploma of the theoretical learning pathway you can go directly to the havo of the Sondervick College. Of course with this diploma you can also go to mbo level 4.
Mixed curriculum profiles
Within the mixed course, you can choose from the following profiles:
