"The teachers support my dreams"

Siri has only lived in the Netherlands for four years, but she feels completely at home here. She is in vwo-4, wants to study medicine and even already has her future workplace in mind. "I am no longer a shy girl: I dare to stand up for myself."

"At Sondervick College I immediately had a good feeling. It is a Dutch school, but very internationally oriented. I could follow bilingual education here and the teachers are very nice. They made me feel right at home at school, although it was quite a roller coaster for me. I had only just entered the Dutch school system and I didn't know anyone yet. Fortunately, the second year was a lot calmer. My goal is to study medicine and work at the UMC in Utrecht. My teachers support my dreams. They are positive and in a good way honest about things I can do better. That's how I stay motivated."

Connected

"The school genuinely values students' opinions. For example, the other day I and a classmate suggested to the German teacher that we watch German series with subtitles in class. After watching them, we could discuss them in an interactive way. We thought it would be a fun way to engage with the German language and the teacher was very enthusiastic about our ideas."

Trust

"Since attending school here, I have changed. I'm not shy anymore, I have self-confidence and my social skills are much better. Giving presentations and speaking my mind are no longer difficult for me. Moreover, I get the chance to develop other talents as well. So I took extra sports lessons and music lessons and I want to participate in Sondervick on Stage. With a dance, because I like to be unique."
