Sondervick College employs a specialized dyslexia coach who serves as a source of information for students, parents, and teachers. During lessons, students with dyslexia are guided by subject teachers. They ensure that the student can master the material as effectively as possible. First-year students with dyslexia receive dyslexia training in which they are given tips on topics such as learning vocabulary and reading texts effectively.
Dyslexia Statement
First-year students and lateral entrants with dyslexia receive a temporary dyslexia card. This card is converted into a permanent, personal card during the first period of the school year. The dyslexia card is compiled by the dyslexia coach and the student. It states what the student is entitled to, such as extra time. The card also states what the student's responsibilities are. More information about dyslexia-specific rights can be found in the Dyslexia Protocol.
Computer program claroread
For students with a dyslexia statement, there is the possibility of requesting textbooks in spoken form in addition to regular books. The corresponding computer program ClaroRead is provided to the student on loan from the school.
Dyscalculia
Students with dyscalculia are allowed to use their calculators and/or math cards during class and tests.
