Havo in Practice

All fourth-year HAVO students take the course “HAVO in Practice.” They learn primarily through hands-on experience and work on real-world assignments. In doing so, they apply their knowledge and skills and develop new ones. Collaboration, creative thinking, research, and presentation are central to the course. In this way, students discover their talents and prepare for their future education and the world around them.

Children's Party at the Prehistoric Village

Our students set to work on an assignment from the Prehistoric Village in Eindhoven: to develop a children’s party for kids ages 6 to 11.

The project began with a visit to the Prehistoric Village, where the students drew inspiration from exploring the historic surroundings and activities. They then worked in small groups on their ideas. They designed an activity, created a guide for supervisors, developed materials using a laser cutter, and finally, each group presented their children’s party to a jury.

Design a Game for International Players

How do you ensure that internationals and their buddies get to know each other and Veldhoven better through play? With that assignment from Cordaad Welzijn, students during the Havo in Practice lessons went to work within the design project "Design a Game for Internationals".

The assignment: Design an outdoor game for 20 to 25 players, entirely in English. Use at least one component from the 3D printer or laser cutter.
Working in small groups, the students went through all the phases of a real design process—from goal analysis and brainstorming to prototyping, testing, and presenting.
