"You get to undertake a lot of things on your own at school."
Marloes knew for sure that she wanted to do bilingual education, and the atmosphere at Sondervick College felt right away. That made choosing her high school easy. She is now in vwo-4, is a member of the student council and has big plans for the future. "We are listened to very well."
"For me, the transition to high school was not really exciting. I saw it mostly as a new adventure that I was really looking forward to. I made friends quickly and I had a great mentor. Moreover, I became a member of the student council and participated in exchanges with foreign students. I stayed with a German host family for a few days and we ourselves were host families for an Indonesian student. I made good friends from that."
Entrepreneurial
"The great thing about the Sondervick College is that you can do a lot yourself. If you have an idea, a teacher or the education manager can help you with it. If you dare to ask, a lot is possible. For example, together with another student I adapted the student regulations. We discussed the dress code with the school principal and drew up new rules. As a student council we are now talking about setting up a library where students can learn or relax in silence. We will discuss those plans later with the school administration. They always try to do something with our ideas. Not everything is always possible, but then they explain well why it can't be done."
Ambition
"The fact that I speak English well by now will probably come in handy later. I would like to play in musicals and there are more opportunities for that in England. Another option is that I will study technical medicine. A different world, but English is very important in that too. I can go in all directions!"
