"The right push at the right time."

Four years after her final havo exam at Sondervick College, Dana is back at her old school. This time for one of her graduation projects, as she is almost finished with her college degree in Communication at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. "My high school days were the best time of my life," she said.

Dana looks back on her years at Sondervick College with a very good feeling. "I had a very pleasant school time," she says. "I met my best friends there, I liked the personal contact with the teachers and I felt at home at school. I owe the fact that I went to study Communication to my mentor at the time. She did the same study and she thought Communication was for me. I thought, 'if she said it, then it must be worth finding out'. It was the right push at the right time for me. And the great thing is: she was right. I think communication is a great profession. I'm going to pursue a master's degree in Strategic Communication after graduation."

Well prepared

Dana chose to do one of her graduation projects at Sondervick College. Her assignment was to organize an event, where former students tell today's students about their studies or work. "I enjoyed doing something back for my old school," Dana says. "It was pretty special to be back at Sondervick College, and to see the teachers from the past again. I think that at havo I was well prepared for college. It is quite a step, because at the hbo you have much more responsibility. But if you are enterprising and independent, it will definitely work out."
